Doppelgangers: Slipnkot

SWITCH TO POLISH

Slipknot? Dafuq?

No, not this famous Alternative band from Iowa, but rather a forgotten Thrash Metal / Crossover from Connecticut. Albeit, if I can be honest, despite the crucial genre differences, both bands share a similar kind of insanity.

This Slipknot did not exist for too long, and the only thing it has left was this short, 12-minute EP, and one track recorded during the sessions, that wasn't released until an anniversary compilation of its label, namely Revelation Records, which dabbled mostly in Hardcore / Punk. One can hear the obvious influence of early Corrosion of Conformity. From this, as I mentioned before, comes the common link between the two Slipknots, the HC harsh, fast and angry style.

Vocalist sounds like a rabid pimp, but thankfully, the rest of the band has decent handling of their instruments, and features that characteristic toxic nuclear waste Thrash. It's hard to say anything more, as there isn't much to bite, and the band had split-up right after the recording this masterpiece.

Now, this kind of name can nowadays be a source of problems, as there is a high probability that we might not see this stuff being re-released for obvious legal reasons. But who knows? Maybe the more known Slipknot will not be an asshole and will not block any potential remasters? But considering that so far nothing ever came, I have a suspicion that they actually might be assholes. Anyway, listen to this material below.
