BACK TO POLISH

Below you will find description for the series that are featured on this blog with additional explanation. The blog is purely educational.

___________________________________________________

Anatomia (Country): series that is connected to "Around the World", but focusing on more individual approach for a specific country on a particular example of a legendary band from the XX / early XXI century. The point is to present how particular settings influenced the bands, or how they affected the global trends. For newer bands, there is a dedicated series "The Upstarts". In the title, I always put the ISO code for two reasons: to shorten the title of the post, and also for educational reasons.

Around the World: or "global adventure". Here I try to explain each country, in how it developed its scene, and which styles became iconic in the historical-cultural-social context. I try to present the "spirit" of the country, as well as their legacy.

Beyond Metal:  everything that is not directly Metal, albeit might have some indirect connection. The topics can vary, and can be not only music, but also actors, personas, games and movies. Usually it's something that intrigued me at the moment, or what I feel that should be shared.

Collector Corner:  my favorite series, as I enjoy writing about various editions, deluxe versions and re-masters. I also make a comment about the current market, its problems, difficulties and incompetence. Anyway, here you will find anything related to buying music, and presentation of the most optimal options avalaible.

Debunking / Deconstructing: loose series, sometimes satirical, other times essays, or general thoughts about a particular topic, which I consider that is worth explaining, or describe. It can be social changes, urban legends, or some news from the Metal world and its culture.

Doppelgangers: simple series, where I present obscure bands, which share their names with their more legendary counterparts. The greatest example would be Slayer, which in its early days had to fight (and win) with their Texan namesake. There can be more than one example, and I always try to add some historical context.

Labels Spotlight: here I focus on worthwhile labels, which can be very important, and it serves as an appendix for "Collector Corner". Sometimes there might be a harsh criticism for a shitty labels / rip-offs, but in general I'd rather write about good labels. I do try to add some bio, essential releases and trivia.

Metal Cinema: films connected to Metal history / culture, or about a specific band, live DVD, etc. Here you can also find some movies, where Metal fulfills an important function. I do believe that Metal culture neglected its role in the pop culture, and I do want to fix this notion a little.

Metal Youtube: youtube channels, which are about Metal, or present great musicians worth watching. I can also include here some channels which might have some related material for Metalheads, that can be considered important, or notable.

Remember the Heroes: irregular series dedicated to deceased musicians, sometimes presenting them from different side / point of view. Many times I will try to add some personal thoughts about particular influence that some specific person had on me.

The Art of Metal: special series, which attempts to provide some artistic appreciation and add some esthetical value to the blog. As usual, I try to provide some bio, trivia, and notable contributions to Metal history. I do not want to include a gallery of works, as in general, I'd rather share a link to artists' websites, so they can have more views. I do might add some pictures, if they serve a specific purpose to present some crucial information.

The Upstarts: unusual series, which I created as a showcase for the upcoming, younger bands. Metal in general is a conservative genre, which people usually associated with the '80s & '90s. Therefore I decided to separate it into "old" and "new guard", and present bands that I consider a "new hope", who will pick up the torch, and continue to represent Metal genre in the future. As such, many of the bands are not known (for now), or have some buzz around. I do also want to write a little about the struggels and obstacles that the fresh bands have to deal with. This series is also the closest to the "classic" approach to writing reviews on this blog.
