Anatomia BRA: Overdose VI

"Progress of Decadence" was the first album by Overdose, that I managed to get. It's not a coincidence, as with their next album "Scars", it was widely distributed. At this point Overdose managed to get various deals with numerous labels for each continent.

The fifth album and sixth release overall, and again some changes and improvements. The music presented then-popular elements, which were burning up the world, namely Groove and "tribal elements". Albeit in case of Overdose, they're not as tribal, as they're "street-wise", a concept illustrated through cover art - the uncanny symmetry of corporation building vs slums. But anyone who would classify it as "just another Brazilian production", would be in a surprise.

The Thrash Metal is still audible and present, but what we also get are new and multiple ideas to execute that sound. For example, the solo of "Straight to the Point" reminds me of Hard Rock from the '80 and fluidly moves between the themes. The solos in general are incredible in a way that band didn't try before. They have specific melodies, and each time they try a different mood for the song.

The titular track starts in a menacing, sinister way, and is my personal favorite, even if there are other contenders like "Favela", or "Stupid Generation". We also receive an updated version of seminal "Zombie Factory", more aligned with their new direction. There are also instrumentals (outside of intro) separating the A-side from the B.

One could say that this is opus magnum of the band, and who knows, it might be true. But with such vast discography, everyone can find their own preferred era.

We are also reaching near the end of this series. There is only one hit left, but from what I see, it seems like the band haven't said the final word.
