Remember the Heroes: LG Petrov

Englisz only

LG Petrov. The Man, The Myth, The Legend. The cancer took him away... While he was in his prime..

Lars-Göran Petrov, part Finnish, part Macedonian, 100% Whiskey Death Metal.

We never heard his works with Black Satan (years 1981-1982), and his earliest works with another legend, the band Morbid (in which, the infamous "Dead" roared). He drummed there and was on "Last Supper" (1987). He joined Nihilist in 1989, and recorded two demos with them, doing vox, before they split-up and reformed as Entombed and Unleashed (yeah, I know the story was different, but this is the official account).

With Entombed, he did the best albums, "Left Hand Path" and "Wolverine Blues". Unfortunately, it was Nicke Andersson who did vocals for Clandestine instead of LG (some personal bullshit).  He left the band for a moment, but when he returned he stayed with them for the next batch of albums, up to "Serpent Saints".

Then, Entombed was about to go back to basics, but something went bad (never published), and the band diverged (not unlike Nihilist) into Entombed and Entombed AD. The former released nothing (and let it stay this way), the latter, with LG, recorded 3 albums, and "Dead Dawn" might be the best album that LG Petrov / Entombed ever recorded. I mentioned whiskey before, but on this album you can feel it and even taste it.

Highly recommended. Beside his Entombed band, he also created Firespawn, another masterpiece of a band that was basically the big four of Swedish Death Metal, doing a band (band band band, I will repeat this word as many times as necessary, it's not my fault that english language is primitive). They also had 3 albums, which remain underrated.

I thought for a while that he wrote a song for Delayed Action Bomb, but it turns out it was Lars Rosenberg, so sorry for the confusion.

Anyway, 2 years after third Entombed AD album, our King has died. There will never be another one like him, and wherever he is, I hope he has an afterlifetime supply of whiskey. This death really hurts.

 Cheers for the King!
