Anatomia Szwajcarii: Tiburon
Due to too many posts waiting in the queue, I decided to release them this week in the global language only - Polscy czytelnicy wybaczcie! Aczkolwiek w ramach rekompensaty, nie tłumaczyłem tytułu artykułu - to jest zresztą jedyna seria, z którą tak zdecydowałem postąpić.
The band, the myth, the legend.
Probably one of the worst band in the existence.
Switzerland is something of a Mecca for Extreme Metal, due to the accomplishments of His Majesty Thomas Gabriel "Warrior" Fischer. And many times people wondered, what the hell happened to the rest of the country? Wasn't there anything else? I mean, Netherlands is small too, and look how many quality bands they produced. Well, this band kinda answers your question.
Tiburon means "shark" in Spanish, albeit the logo is already quite an indication. Why in Spanish, you ask? Because the founder of the band was originally from there (which begs the question - shouldn't it be called the "Anatomy of Spain" then? Nah, better blame the Swiss instead). They are a D.I.Y. type of band, who did everything by themselves. And it shows.
There is one funny trivia about their first album "Join Us" - the band used to be proud to claim that its debut had quickly sold out. What they did forget to mention, was that the pressing was the whole 8 (eight) units, and majority of the copies were bought by the band themselves (like 5 of 'em?). The whole story is kinda mentioned in the booklet, because you see, for some reason, a pretty respectable label called Temple of Darkness decided to re-release it for reasons unknown, and provided a very rich booklet, detailing the background of this "masterpiece".
I was wondering if I should call this album "The Room" (click) of Death Metal. Terribly triggered and uneven drumming that even a total noob would criticize. Awful, robotic, synthesized vocals with the overuse of reverb. Scarcity of good riffs (riffs?), except maybe one song (for me it's "Sysruction", but your mileage may vary). Add to that fact the overall awkward arrangements, verging on being experimental, topped with amateurish production. I don't think I am able to mention a single thing that works.
It didn't discourage the band from performing, and they had "released" more stuff to no acclaim. I do applaud the dedication, but I do wonder about the lack of self-awareness of the musicians. It's certainly the worst album in my collection, but then again, that's also what makes this trainwreck fascinating. It makes me appreciate the average / mediocre bands a little more. Feel free to find it somewhere on the internet if you dare, or want a good laugh through tears.
