The Art of Metal: Chris Moyen

Due to too many posts waiting in the queue, I decided to release them this week in the global language only - Polscy czytelnicy wybaczcie!

Christopher Moyen, aka Thorncross, Age Unknown to Public Knowledge, born in France, is not a person that I probably have to introduce much, do I?

Among his most known works are: logo for Unholy and Nuclear War Now, cover art for (but not limited to) Archgoat, Beherit, Bestial Mockery, Black Witchery, Blood, Carnifex, Centinex, Coffins, Corpsefucking Art,  Desaster, Goatlord, Holy Death, Imprecation, Incantation, Morbosidad, Naked Whipper, Nominon, Perdition Temple, Possession, Purtenance, Sathanas, Throneum, among others.

It's of course, only a minor fraction of his contributions. Hell, you could very well do an ABC with Chris Moyen, with the amount of stuff he provided cover for.

Now, majority of the bands that request art, belong to the rather wide spectrum of Black Metal, therefore Mr. Thorncross is usually associated with that genre. The reason for that is that his covers are known for an aesthetic commonly called "black, white and a red logo", to the point of it becoming a meme.

That doesn't mean that Mr. Moyen can't do coloured art. Oh yes, he can, and quite often he did so, with good results. But that's the thing when people categorize you into one style. Personally, I like it, and usually fall for it, despite it being quite often a simple variation of the satanic theme. But it really is that good.

Mr. Moyen also has a brother named Eric, who was in a band called Disabled, and for whom he also provided art (that nepotism!). And yeah, I dare to say that without the more famous brother, Disabled might had not received various re-releases. But hey, I don't complain about more of Death Metal.

Our hero had / have (?) a website, but it seems defunct. Nonetheless, you can still use it with wayback machine: http://www.chrismoyen.com/
