Labels Spotlight: Divebomb

Due to too many posts waiting in the queue, I decided to release them this week in the global language only - Polscy czytelnicy wybaczcie!

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, 2008, sees the launch of a peculiar label dedicated to reissuing stuff, a trend that would grow in numbers in the next decade.

To be fair, majority of them don't fall under my interest area, as they focus on Power Metal and Hard Rock. But... and that's a big butt... I slowly warmed up to them. But first things first.

What attracted me to this label in the first place was obviously Death Metal, in form of Terminus (USA), Disciples of Power (Canada), Suspiria (USA), and Gladiator (Slovakia). Then I've found out about Thrashier side of the label with Messina (Netherlands), Horde of Torment (USA), Silent Scream (USA), Addictive (Australia), or Aftermath & Anvil Bitch (both USA).

I was so impressed by what I've found (and educated myself about) that I was starting to dig even deeper, and tried some Powerthrash and Heavy Metal stuff, like D.A.M. & Arbitrater (UK), Autumn Silence, Chastain, Cyclone Temple, Aragon, Apocrypha (all USA), Deathrow (Germany), Donor (Netherlands), Fallen Angel (Sweden).

That's quite a list, isn't it? And it's only the tip of the iceberg. I plan on checking every single of their over 200+ catalogue. There was a point for me to namedrop all these bands with their country of origin, as you can see, majority of them belong to North American scene, albeit from time to time, the label manages to mercifully release something from non-standard country, like aforementioned Gladiator, albeit it happens way too rare.

But what really makes this label worthy of a spotlight, is the quality of these re-releases. Delightful restoration of the art, making it look more lively and crispier. Fat, rich booklet with fantastic liner notes detailing the background of the band, and album's history. Mandatory lyrics, photos, informations. Not to mention that 2CD packages are very frequent. And while it's not that expensive, it's very hard to come by, so you will have to be lucky to find it in your store, if you're not an American. But if you see anything anywhere, grab it before I'll do!

So to sum it up, I came for Death Metal, I stayed for everything else.
