The Art of Metal: Wes Benscoter

Due to too many posts waiting in the queue, I decided to release them this week in the global language only - Polscy czytelnicy wybaczcie!

Wesley Benscoter, Age Undisclosed, American from Pennsylvania. Probably my third favorite artist of all time, completing the trio of Seagrave, and Whelan.

His body of work is rather, massive. I mean, AC/DC, Autopsy, Black Sabbath, Bloodbath, Broken Hope, Cattle Decapitation, Defiled, Dio, Embalmer, Hooded Menace, Hypocrisy, Incantation, Kreator, Massacre, Mortician, Nile, Sinister, Slayer, Torture Killer, Vader, Vehemence, and it's not even all, is quite impressive. Basically all A-List talents, and even legends.

He also apparently did some cover for Carbon 14 and Your Flesh magazines. His works also inspired Cattle Decapitation's videos.

Benscoter's art is really versatile, but he will probably remember the most for his devilish impressions and surreal landscapes. Compared to Dan Seagrave, Benscoter prefers more blocky, and made-of-stone-looking characters and objects. And unlike Seagrave, he still grows as an artist and tries different things.

Revolver did a cool interview with him a while ago:

A funny personal tidbit. I genuinely thought that the cover for Xentrix - "Bury The Pain" was also made by Wes, alas close, but no cigar (it was actually done by Dan Goldsworthy). Honestly, I wouldn't mind seing a duel between Seagrave vs Benscoter as a challenge of sorts. Maybe someone could organize that?
