The Upstarts: Parkcrest
Due to too many posts waiting in the queue, I decided to release them this week in the global language only - ahoj Polscy czytelnicy wybaczcie!
Wow. Just wow. I am speechless. Can you imagine opening your album with an 8-minute epic that feels much much shorter? An epic that doesn't bore you to death and keeps you guessing at which way the composition will go? That's Parkcrest for you.
For the last decade, Chile took up the mantle that Brazil once wielded. Pure, undiluted underground Metal free of trends, focused 100% on delivering artistry and vision, no matter the rough conditions that musicians so often face in South America.
Someday, when I will write about Chile as a country, I will have to mention my favorite trope: 90s Chilean Metal vocalists weren't good, especially when it came to Thrash Metal. And I'm glad to announce that the younger generations finally fixed this issue, as the new breed of hungry upstarts (hence the title of the series) not only deliver great, bloodthirsty vokills, but they also know how to use them to compliment the music.
Anyway, Parkcrest plays ambitious Thrash Metal with strong elements of Technicality and flirtations with Progressive routes, but without sacrificing the aggression, which borderlines on Death Metal. That's all you basically need to know. The album actually has a concept, which interestingly enough, unravels with each song, leading to the explosive finale. It's not often I mention this, but this album is pure genius.
Period. Well, thanks to the internet, you can hear it for yourself, if you don't believe me:
